Alternative therapy sessions

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
CCWO offers three different types of treatments, all of which help to benefit the overall wellbeing of the client. The therapies all improve and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Holistic Massage and Aromatherapy:

Massage oil is applied over the body in relaxing strokes. The strokes help to relieve pain and aches and muscle tension. It is very similar to Aromatherapy in that it is full body massage and releases tensions. It can be extremely relaxing and tension relieving both physically and mentally. Massage helps relieve the symptoms of stress, anxiety and helps the client relax and allows their body to rest and heal. The muscles are stretched. It relieves stiff muscle, joints and helps improve circulation and allowing the body to recover and heal in a natural way. Aromatherapy uses oils which have various properties sand smells that aid the massage according to what type of massage is needed i.e. a relaxing or stimulating massage.

Shiatsu

Is a traditional Japanese hands on treatment. Is deeply relaxing and the therapist presses on certain points in the body, to allow any energetic blocks to clear and muscular tension and tightness to be released. You receive this treatment fully clothed. It is very beneficial for stress relief and promoting calm and relaxation.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head massage is a very relaxing and comforting form of massage which doesn’t require the removal of clothes. Pressure is applied by the therapist over certain points on the body. You receive this treatment seated in a chair and it is very useful for alleviating shoulder, neck, back pain and headaches.

Outreach and general support

CCWO offer a limited befriending service, including home visits, general contact and support, hospital visiting, accompanying and assisting clients to medical and other appointments, bill payment and shopping service.

A volunteer befriender can visit you in your own home for an agreed time on a weekly basis if possible, and offer you a listening and supportive ear and also offer you the opportunity to socialise and speak with someone.

Befrienders are caring friendly, trustworthy, reliable individuals who volunteer their free time to offer some help and support. Your befriender will visit or telephone you on a regular basis to suit both your needs. The day and time will always be agreed with your befriender and this will be the arrangement for you to receive services from the scheme.

Does everyone qualify for this service?

Our Volunteer co-ordinator will visit you and carry out an assessment of your needs. Leading on from this, if it’s agreed that you have a need – a befriender will be allocated to you. Each Befriender is personally matched to meet your needs. A visit will be carried out by the Volunteer Co-ordinator and befriender and a plan made up where an agreed day/time for the service is agreed.

CCWO offers a Volunteering scheme, allowing the opportunity for people to gain valuable experience in a community setting.

Volunteering can open doors to new opportunities!

Is there anything you always wanted to try and learn about and never had the opportunity to? Volunteering may hold the key! Volunteering is increasing in popularity and is becoming more of a learning experience for both parties rather than the traditional view. It is becoming popular with a variety of people who are exploring new and varied work and wanting to gain overall work experience and build their career portfolio.

Schools and colleges are actively encouraging students to find work experience placements, which provide learning in a supportive environment.

Volunteering is promoted in job centres, because volunteering can lead to gaining valuable skills and experience which can open doors to new employment. Also on a personal level, Volunteering can really help with increasing confidence and building self esteem as this increases knowledge and provides the opportunities for meeting and making new friends.

Volunteering can open up social opportunities and is useful for people who want to get out of the house and offer some valuable time and skills for the benefit of the community.

Volunteering is a two way process, where the community benefits and the volunteer gains valuable experience in community and social care work.
